Host, James Watson sits with Ken Monteith, one of the most engaged, inspired leaders in Canada's HIV community. As Executive Director of COCQ-SIDA (Coalition of Quebec Community Organizations in the Fight Against AIDS) Ken also serves on the organizing committee of AIDS 2022, the 24th International AIDS conference taking place in Montreal July 29 – Aug. 2, 2022.
Together, James and Ken romp through a wide range of topics from Ken’s training as a lawyer and his dynamic work with COCQ-SIDA to the issues raised in his blog, Talk to the Hump… the ravings of a gay man living with HIV and Lipodystrophy. And of course, organizing oneself for AIDS 2022.

Ken Monteith
Executive Director, COCQ-SIDA
“I/me in the sheets, he/him in the streets.” Ken Monteith is the Executive Director of COCQ-SIDA (la Coalition des organismes communautaires québécois de lutte contre le sida). Trained as a lawyer, he worked in the community youth sector and in the HIV/AIDS sector. He participates actively in research, especially projects concerning the quality of life of people living with HIV and prevention for men who have sex with men. Ken holds degrees in Industrial Relations, Common and Civil Law from McGill University and was a member of the Québec Bar from 1991 to 2001, when he resigned to devote himself more fully to his community work on HIV/AIDS. Ken Monteith was diagnosed with advanced HIV infection in 1997.
